Bridges span a gap between supports. Dental bridges
do just that: they bridge a gap to replace missing teeth. We build bridges by placing an artificial tooth anchored by crowns on either side.
At Spektor Dental, we create strong, attractive bridges to replace a single tooth, or multiple teeth supported by dental implants
What Are Bridges?
Bridges are a way that we can replace missing teeth in your mouth. There are several different types of bridges. The traditional bridge is attached between two crowns, two natural teeth, or two implants. The ends of the bridge are cemented onto the other teeth or implants. The prosthetic teeth are in the center of the bridge. Other bridges can consist of metal ends on one side or both sides. Some bridges are better for the front teeth, while other bridges are used for the back teeth or side teeth.
Why Are Bridges Helpful?
Bridges are used to fix several problems with your teeth. You may have lost teeth because of tooth decay. You might also lose a tooth because of gum disease. Like tooth decay, we can prevent gum disease together. If you are brushing and flossing, gum disease is easy to prevent. However, over time, the bacteria can create pockets of infection between your teeth and gums. The infection, if untreated, can cause your teeth to fall out.
Accidents or injuries can cause you to lose teeth as well. Sometimes, you can lose teeth due to illness or treatments, such as chemotherapy and cancer.
Bridges give you back your teeth, but they can also help your jaw. If you lost teeth, your other teeth may try to shift position. This can cause problems with your bite. Do you have missing teeth?
