Reflections on 9-11: An Optimist’s View
Editor’s Note: The following blog post was penned by Dr. Wendy Spektor (Co-founder, Spektor Dental) while on a recent trip to New York City.
I found myself in New York City a week before the 10th anniversary of 9-11 and was in complete awe of what is going on there. My husband and I were staying near Ground Zero and the area was alive and bustling — a marked difference from the trip we made here a decade ago in December of 2001.

It was with trepidation that our family flew to New York only 3 months after 9-11 so we could attend an Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity (AO) meeting. What we saw was fear, anger and despair in the eyes of most everyone we talked with. We were stunned by what we saw at Ground Zero on that trip, and for some reason, I distinctly remember eating at a diner to support the locals.
Quite honestly, I didn’t think that first trip would affect me, but arriving this time (for a wedding of a friend and to meet AO friends and colleagues) I’m extremely proud of the Continue Reading »
