Tooth-Colored Fillings

Tooth-colored dental fillings are made of a composite resin material that is matched to the color of your natural teeth. They are used to repair damage to the tooth structure and can restore the function and aesthetics of your smile following decay formation. Composite resin fillings are strong and durable and can last many years with proper care.

If you have a tooth that is damaged by decay, talk to our team about whether a tooth-colored filling is right for you!

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a procedure in which a tooth-colored resin is applied to a tooth to improve its appearance. This actually involves the same material used for tooth-colored fillings! Bonding can be used to repair cracked or chipped teeth, to close gaps between teeth, or to make minor alterations to the overall shape of teeth.

Veneers

Dental veneers are thin shells of tooth-colored porcelain material that are designed to conceal imperfections in the natural teeth. They are custom-made to cover the front surface of each individual tooth to alter the shape, shade, size, and overall appearance.

The process of applying veneers usually requires two visits to our office.

  • During the first visit, the teeth are prepared by having a thin layer of enamel removed. Then, impressions are taken in order to obtain an accurate fit for each veneer.
  • The second visit is when the actual veneers are applied to the teeth using a special dental adhesive.

Proper care and maintenance of veneers includes regular brushing and flossing and avoiding biting into hard foods that may damage the veneer.

Inlays & Onlays

Inlays and onlays are restorative components that are designed from ceramic or porcelain to match the tooth color and form a durable, blendable restoration. They are used to repair teeth that have been damaged by decay along the top grooves of the molar or premolar teeth. Typically, inlays and onlays are used when the area of decay is large enough that a filling would be ineffective, but a dental crown would be excessive. These pieces are specifically designed to fit the particular shape of the tooth and restore the cusps, or pits, of the back teeth. The inlay is placed within the deep grooves of the tooth while the onlay extends over the cusp of the tooth.

Inlays and onlays are made by taking an impression of your tooth and then creating the restoration to precisely fit that impression. The restoration is then bonded to your tooth using an adhesive and polished to ensure a seamless finish.

Esthetic Crowns

Esthetic crowns are a type of dental restoration that is used to cover and protect a damaged tooth. They are made from a stain-resistant porcelain material that closely resembles the natural color of teeth and can be used for both functional and cosmetic purposes. They can also be made from different materials such as Zirconium or stain resistant porcelain materials.

Esthetic crowns are an effective way to restore a damaged tooth, and they can be used to fulfill the following functions:

  • Cover a discolored or misshapen tooth
  • Protect a weak or broken tooth
  • Restore a tooth that has been worn down
  • Improve the function of a tooth that has been damaged

Esthetic crowns are no longer effective at protecting the encapsulated tooth if they become loose, cracked, or chipped. It is important to visit our office regularly so that we can check the condition of your crowns and make sure they are still functioning properly.
