Preparing For Your First Visit to The Dentist!

Getting ready for a first visit to a new dentist certainly doesn’t require a master plan, but what we offer here are a few tips for those with an initial appointment with us here at Spektor Dental. These suggestions are in no particular order and some of them are worth reviewing while others are just gentle reminders.

New patient form: If you’d like to save a little time, download our New Patient form from our website and fill it out in the convenience of your own home. The time to document important information — like your medical history or a list of medications you’re taking — is while you’re at home with easy access to your personal files and medications.

Brushing: There’s really no need for you to brush your teeth like a one-armed bandit just to impress us during your first visit. That’s like the working mom who vacuums and dusts every room in the house before the maid arrives. What’s the sense in that? Isn’t that why you hired a housekeeper in the first place? Same thing here. We’re the experts on your teeth, so a savage brushing just before leaving home for our office is probably not very productive. We’re certainly not going to judge your brushing skills so there’s no need to pretty up your smile before you get here. That’s what you’re paying us to do.

Proof of insurance: Also hunt around for proof of dental insurance, if you have it, or call us ahead of time to confirm the out-of-pocket costs of your first visit.
